They write a lot of "smoke and mirrors" and also this: "Out of scope of EU VAT / Reverse charge - Art. This is some kind of new fraud, same as staged events, false flag operations, inside jobs and finally fake terrorist events and finally wars, it's all politics fraud to defraud people of as much money as possible. Do not pay them until they clearly explain. They don't even know my tax number, how come they are sending me these rip off invoices. And emails sent to all their provided emails in TNT ended up with some b/s responses and no fair explanation. When I complained to FedEx they responded with silence, or in other words they ignored my inquiries. Because this seems to be a scam by TNT and by FedEx. How in the world they want me to pay another €40 and for what? This seems to be a EU wide fraud and only fools pay these invoices. And then I sent my passport and documents to the US which cost me like €40 and then TNT (who handles FedEx shipping in Europe) sends me invoices for another close to €40 to pay again! I already paid a WHOPPING €40 just to send my documents to the Embassy. How come I have to pay them to receive a magazine. I was the recipient and TNT sent me an invoice for €12 to pay months after I received that magazine. How can I received a magazine from a friend in Central America, which was just a magazine, a free magazine and he sent it via FedEx for some reason. The above complaints site contains thousands of complaints about this rip off by TNT. Here's why: TNT Express | Portal da Queixa It's a fraud and the FedEx and TNT are using complex laws to rip off people with all kinds of tricks. I would especially like to hear from any UK Armida buyers, did you receive something similar? Is this a scam that I should ignore. The Smart Asia Industrial website looks like a supplier market place for anything from watches. none of these seem to add up to the value of the watch, $349. They also list Customs value at $98.42, VAT value at $124.67 and Licence Value at $98.75. Also, there is another letter with the FedEx, from Smart Asia which lists the item as a sample watch with a $50.00 value. I cannot see any reference to Armida itself. I have checked out the FedEx end in UK and the only things that match is the admin fee of £12.00 (quoted) and a FAQ on why duty is to be paid. There is no original price value that matches the watch purchase price (and from that the derived Duty value, I would assume). I cant seem to find any consistency with what I bought. It refers to a company called Smart Asia Industrial Ltd, based in HK. It is asking for an amount of £36.93 but nowhere on the invoice does it show it originates from Armida. I have now received a letter from FedEx asking to pay a Duty & Tax invoice. I recently purchased an Armida which was duly shipped and delivered, no issues.
